This Summer I started again 'en plein air' or open air painting with traditional oil paint and brushes. Three paintings are already uploaded on Fine Art America. Mostly I paint in and around my town. Of course I can take your order to paint on your preferred location though the travel and stay-over spendings are for the customer's account as well.

A new group at FAA is formed branded with the city's white star on red sign. Any media is accepted as long as it is about the Dutch city, capital of the province of Limburg, MAASTRICHT and their inhabitants.
"Maastricht is the city where my both families originate from. Maastricht is the city where I graduated from the Fine Art Academy. Maastricht is the city where family members work and live. Maastricht is my most beloved city. I like the people of Maastricht. I speak the Maastricht dialect. Maastricht, or Mestreech in local dialect, is in my blood while my cradle even did not stood in this magical city but in Beek, a village 15 km north north east of Maastricht. I always shed tears when I leave the city going back home to Tilburg. I love Maastricht."

"Fantastic Maastricht
The oldest city in the Netherlands has great appeal, not only for day trippers and tourists, but also for new residents. This can be seen in the city’s wonderful...

An unusual art piece made by Briex is this one! Briex, who lives and works in Tilburg which is situated right in the middle of Van Gogh's country (Zundert, Tilburg, Helvoirt, Nuenen), visited the church at the Papenvoort in Nuenen, The Netherlands with Streetview. Made a painting himselves and positioned Van Gogh's little church painting exact on the same spot as where the church still is nowadays.

First of all, celebrating the start of the new Carnival season (the Eleventh of the Eleventh).
Playing a CD with James Last music (very loud), gathering some house hold stuff, fruits, vegetables, nuts. Nicely decorated on the table. With the camera of my wife I took some pictures and repainted the whole to an extraordinairy giant size still life painting (2000 mm width!!). A true Dutch fine art still life painting with typical Dutch pottery Boerenbond (Farmer style) left, antique pottery from Gouda or Makkum (pot with yellow, blue, orange and green flowers), a vase with Delft Blue painting, Els Lavera (the local original bitter from my birth town Beek in Limburg), a crystal carafe with genuine exquise Floryn Very Old Grain Genever...
A masterpiece which shall be a gem in your house. Treat your family and friends with Christmas or at another occasion.

Finally Briex has added some older work here on Fine Art America for sale. The 1000 x 1000 mm size oil painting on wood depicts a plein air scene of cosy terraces at the Vrijthof square in Maastricht, a city in the most southern part of The Netherlands. In those days Briex signed off his work with his original name. Nowadays he's signing off with 'Nop Briex', his artist name. The original oil painting is for sale.

The sinking HMS Bounty replica, well known of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, was a ship that was wrecked on October 29, 2012 during the Sandy hurricane. The crew attemted to bring the Bounty to calm waters but suffered problems and the high waves finally caught the ship. Two sailors lost their lives, the rest was rescued by the US Coast Guard. I had to make this photo compilation to visualize this dramatic end of a nice sailing ship and of course to commemorate the drowned sailors.

The night! In Edward Hopper style but than as photo.
By using a tripod (even a simple mini one) and camera you can make extraordinary evening, night and early morning pictures. Switch off your flash for the most romantic shots. Even photos and videos found on the internet from the past or the present give enough inspiration to re-paint them. I created a new gallery especially for this "evening, night and early morning"-subject. One of my photo's (see also the press release logo) is altered to an almost Edward Hopper style and in Night Hawks colours. Enjoy my paint and photo art by following the link:

But there is more to enjoy in my portfolio.
Yours very truly,
